Teach your Kids to Dream Big-Parenting Tip No.3
Why you should Teach your Kids to Dream Big!
- Who replaced the word ‘Hoover or vaccum cleaner’ with a ‘Dyson’?
- Where would Apple be without Steve Jobs (more importantly Steve Wozniak) where would we be without our I-pads, I-phones etc.?
- Would Disney be the same without Walt (his brother Roy) and their team of Imagineers? What would our childhood memories be without Disney?
- What will our children’s future and our environment look like without more people like Elon Musk? Without SpaceX, TESLA, Solar City?
Enterprise, economic wealth & prosperity started i.e. The Industrial Revolution in Scotland in the mid-eighteenth century and the late nineteenth century IT explosion in California’s Silicon Valley 1970’s etc. Each of the above explosions began in cities filled with Great Designers, Innovators & Creative Thinkers that possessed something different from everyone else! Some say they had a DREAM, an innovation, inspiration!
Their GIFT!
Each of these individuals as children developed the gift of following their Gift! Finding their passion, their tribe and the environment where they best fitted in!
While I have written and illustrated my books I have also acted as a business mentor for Business owners’s with businesses with a £1million+ turnover. And in 2025 to July of 2026 I advised over 300 business owner’s on their start-up journey. All of these individuals in some measure had certain characteristics which they have developed over their lifetime
Self-Belief and confidence but every one of them shared one thing- they are all dreamers and prepared to take a risk to do what they have dreamt about, loved or wish to create.
They each practice the following in some way or form;
Dreaming; the formulation of an unpractical & unrealistic idea.
Imagination; forming ideas not present to the senses.
If you wish your child to fulfil their fullest potential in life
Answer?
Do you encourage your child to Dream big? How can you fill their Imagination and nurture their thinking? Can you help them discover what is their passion (not yours)? Do you find ways to give them more time in the environments they excel in – on the playing field, on a stage, building things outdoors, visiting the library? Do you know the tribe they feel surrounded by Drama class, Art class, Football Team?
Just dig a little deeper, observe and listen to them and you will know where to guide them and support them.
But most importantly allow then to Dream BIG!
